Farm Tidbits
I was reading a blog today about cattle and how many acres needed per animal - the comments were really informative – in fact – there was one that just hit me as I had never heard this before. The writer says she has been batting 100% since she learned of this.
It is about chickens and how to tell which eggs to set under a setting hen to get the desired male/female ratio. This of course means you are using fertilized eggs…….. DUH
If the egg has rounded end it is a hen egg
If the egg has a pointed end it is a rooster egg.
She keeps a couple banty hens because they are such great setters and mama’s. I learned this in the mid 60′s when we had the ranch and a lot of free running chickens. It was always the banty hens who had a bunch of chicks and not the larger hens.
So, another bit of info to fill your mind with….
